Tell-A-Tale (Part 9): A life? Or just alive?

An impromptu act.

An unimpressive lunch? A tad too salty dinner?

How about NO lunch? NO dinner? NO breakfast?
NO water? NO home? NO family?

Of unheard cries.

The numbers are staggering and still rising.
The people affected by Cyclone Nargis and the Sichuan Earthquake.
They need our help, despite whatever man-made politics involved.

Count our blessings.
Give what you can.
Bring back a smile.

For information on the cyclone and earthquake, check out these links:

As this is a spontaneous post, I do not have time to gather information.
Here are a few links I managed to find, if you want to make a contribution.

Redcross (Singapore)
Tel: (+65) 6334-9152/53
Mercy (Malaysia)
Tel: (+603) 4256 9999

I’m sure there are many other relief efforts near you which you can contribute to. Choose one. You still have choices.

Definitely food for thought (no pun intended), bro, what with the additional burden of rising food prices worldwide.

I was passing a banana leaf rice restaurant today and could see the regulars piling on more rice than normal, as if trying to make up for the inflation. How long can they do that before the restaurant owners increase the prices too?

It's all about living in the now, having what we have in moderation, yet not depriving ourselves of the good stuff when it's time for it, for celebration, for reminding ourselves what delight life may yet bring us.

Here's to now, and here's to another day. If less is more, perhaps we can all do with less so everyone can have more.

What a coincidence! I just blogged about the Sichuan disaster too.

How true that they need our help despite the politics and man-made obstacles!

from initial days we oredi know you are unlike a flogger (uuurgggh !)as we noticed a little more depth and a little more width here and there.

and so it is. Beyond food is the way to go ! for afterall many of us are alive but not living

a tragedy indeed..i think before you spoon that nxt scoop of rice and prepared to leave the last piece of meat on the dish, ready for the bin, think about all these people..touching.

kenny, i cant agree more lar, bro! and i could see how all these issues intertwine through your comment.

greed.

that instant reaction that comes so naturally that it's almost acceptable. i guess we will never learn. unless compassion comes to our aid.

"If less is more, perhaps we can all do with less so everyone can have more." now that's compassion, my friend!

camemberu, coincidence indeed! the news on tv and papers these days is just too much to bear, isn't it? it's so strange to know that disasters do not discriminate its victims while we, as human become victims of our own disasters and discriminations.

jun, no lar, not huge, like huge, huge kinda huge lar...but he's really one of those cool dudes who really embraces life and through it, learn about the nature of things. oh, a little humour along the way too..hehe...eh, u also like tagore ar?

cumi & ciki, thanks! it was all a spark of spontaneity and i'm glad i went with my instinct. ;)

christine, i absolutely agree ;) at times like these, we should extend our assistance in whichever way we can. that's the only thing that we can do. and that's what we shud do! ;)

team bsg, wow! i am very flattered by your compliment, o' sagely team. well, technically i am a food blogger..hehe...deep and width..hmmm, i hope i'm not warping everyone into my blackhole of self-indulgence though..hehe

and yes, alive or a life? let us ponder on that while we still have a choice. it's priceless expression.

joe, i couldnt agree more lar, dude! sometimes we really take things for granted. like the pic of that plate of rice i posted. that is a luxury for many in those disaster-stricken areas. *sigh*

xiu long bao, oh, we definitely did not waste any bit. well, except for that piece of chicken that the waiter picked up with his hand...what was that for??? i will not forgo good food. but i will treasure every bit of it!

jun, fantastic! my personal fave is suprisingly not Gitanjali but a compilation of poems called Stray Birds. it's a whole life in that book! :)

simon, aiyoh, not lar...hehe...just doing my part to send the message thru the internet. that's the least thing i can do. (and by donating, of course).

ling239, yes, yes, yes! i absolutely agree with you!!! :) like rice, especially. the price is rising like crazy and there's a half plate of untouched white rice. sigh...

brad, thanks! :) well, that's the least i can do, i guess. and contributing some money through redcross or something similar. :)
