Tell-A-Tale (Part 46): thestoryteller, thefilmmaker

终止于衰竭是死亡,但圆满却终止于无穷。
(飞鸟集, 泰戈尔)

That which ends in exhaustion is death, but the perfect ending is in the endless.
(Stray Birds, Rabindranath Tagore)

Against the green backdrop of Sekinchan, innocence lost was found again. In Ipoh, a couple by the name of Jason and Orked was spending time in a kopitiam selling delicious siew yoke. In the same town as well, a hearing-impared boy called Mahesh was admiring Melur from a distance.

On the silverscreen, her vision has convinced us that religions should build and not divide. Slit eyes, bald girls, preachers; we are not that different afterall because at the end of the day, we are all searching for the same thing.

Never had I regretted paying to watch her films in the cinema, for home never felt so near. And that home was always peaceful and happy, just the way it should be.

Rest in peace, Yasmin Ahmad, the extraordinary Malaysian filmmaker and storyteller in every possible way.

i know this doesn't fit in your post, but i think the photo of the flower in the water is really pretty. beautiful words you wrote, my friend :)

Y'know I keep thinking her departure had something to do with the disgraceful state of our country, despite all that she's been trying to say through her work. If there's ever a lowest point of faith the average M'sian has towards unity, this is it

Such a beautiful tribute Nic, fit for someone with such a beautiful soul. She did indeed make us feel right at home with her movies.

j2kfm, i wonder if you know which part of Ipoh was the pier in sepet located? nice place to chill. yeah man, let's hope her visions live on. it's one of the things that we cherish as a nation.

cumi & ciki, thanks dear! :) wow, i certainly didnt think of the picture that way. your statement's a wonderful tribute to Yasmin Ahmad too! :)

ladyironchef, thanks for the complement dude. i watched some of her works in singapore. do check them out if they are ever gonna show it again, ya!

550ml jar of faith, i had the same thought as well! i believe unity goes hand in hand with fundamental human rights. and sensibility. one doesnt work without the others. We should all learn from Yasmin Ahmad's movies.

qwazymonkey, thanks fellow monkey! :D and the best part is, she make home interesting and new everytime as well! i was just mesmerized by the countryside sceneries @ sekinchan. and that pier scene in ipoh. wow.

alexander, thanks, dude! the picture was taken at the Reunification Palace, Ho Chi Minh City. :)

ling239, that's one of the things we look forward to come every festive season, right? i'm gonna miss them.

jun, it was Yasmin Ahmad who introduced me to Tagore! :) the first line in Chinese was inspired by her signature opening in her movies. :)

mimi, yes, she was. we will definitely miss her!
